The ensemble cast of Zachary Quinto (Star Trek), Luke Wilson (Old School), Topher Grace (Take Me Home Tonight) and Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory) have accepted The Invitation from director Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body). The thriller, scripted by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (both of Clash of the Titans and the upcoming R.I.P.D.), centers around Will (Wilson) who receives an invitation from his estranged ex-wife to attend a dinner party. However, things take a dark turn as Will becomes increasingly suspicious of his ex-wife’s guests, a group who harbors an insidious agenda. The Invitation will begin principal photography in Los Angeles this summer. Hit the jump for more.
The Invitation will be produced through
XYZ Films, a company which currently touts The Raid: Redemption in theaters via Sony Pictures Classics. Martha Griffin (Girlfight) will also produce alongside Hay and Manfredi. Check out the full synopsis below:
On a dark night, Will (Luke Wilson) is invited to his estranged ex-wife’s dinner party. Over the course of the evening, he is gripped by mounting evidence that something insidious has taken hold of his ex-wife, and that she and her new friends have a mysterious and horrifying agenda. By the end of the night, the ramifications of what happens in this house will spread far beyond its doors.
Wilson can be seen in the TV series, Enlightened and alongside Samuel L. Jackson in Meeting Evil, but his biggest upcoming project is, of course, a possible return to Anchorman 2. Quinto had recently wrapped shooting for the Untitled Star Trek Sequel and can be seen this fall in the second season of FX’s American Horror Story. Grace recently appeared in The Giant Mechanical Man and will be part of an awesome cast for The Wedding this October.

It's a tweet that set off a frenzy in the world of local Trekkies.
Actor Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the Star Trek movie series, on Saturday announced via Twitter that he was at a Hooters in northern California watching a boxing match with Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty.

Star Trek, boxing and Hooters? Ah, the life!
Cast members of the Star Trek sequel are in town filming scenes for the new movie at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Yep, it's true. Livermore's national lab is playing a role in the highly-anticipated flick. We broke the news last week courtesy of Livermore Patch's Susan Young.
For Livermore-resident Ashley Schneider, the news of Star Trek stars in the area was too good to be true — and pass up.
The 17-year-old Star Trek-fanatic headed over to the Dublin Hooters for a shot to see the big screen stars up close and in person. It proved to be a good move.
Schneider was able to take a picture with actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who is set to play Khan.
Chris Pine, who plays Kirk, was also there but he declined to have his picture taken, Schneider said.
"I didn't ask either Chris nor Benedict about the movie because I didn't want them to give anything away," Schneider said.
No spoilers here. You go, girl!
As for Scotty and Spock? Schneider was unable to locate them at the restaurant.
Area Trekkies who missed out on the Hooters sighting don't fret. It appears there will be other opportunities to catch the stars hanging around the Valley.
Pegg on Sunday announced that everyone must try an omelet at Dean's Cafe on Main Street in Pleasanton via his Twitter account:
We were in Dean's Cafe on Main St, Pleasanton CA. California omelet is a chili drenched must. Get some!!
Our Susan Young says Cumberbatch and Quinto joined Pegg at the cafe. Other folks reported seeing cast members at the Stoneridge Mall Apple store in Pleasanton and the Regal Cinemas in Dublin.
Another Patch reader told our neighbors at Pleasanton Patch that they ran into Captain Kirk, er I mean Pine, at the Rose Hotel in downtown Pleasanton. Here's information provided in a column by Pleasanton Patch Editor Tanya Rose:
Lee Ann Caldwell and her family ran into Pine, Zoe Saldana (who plays Lt. Uhura), Anton Yelchin (Ensign Chekov) and Pegg at the Rose Hotel. We are attaching a photo they took, as well as a YouTube video, where a very sweet and excited Lauren Caldwell, an Amador Valley High student, scored a hug from Pine.
Caldwell said the actors came across as approachable, and humble.
"They didn't mind shooting the breeze with those of us less famous," she said.
Livermore Patch will keep tabs on any further local Star Trek-related news. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Until then, live long and prosper, Livermore!

We all know Spock as the charismatic Vulcan in Star Trek who offers Captain Kirk an emotionally-detached, logical perspective on the human condition.
So it was odd to see a very cranky-looking Zachary Quinto scowling as Spock on the set of the unnamed sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek yesterday.
To use the character's phrase the frown was in fact 'highly illogical'.

Highly illogical: A cranky-looking Zachary Quinto scowled as Spock on the set of the unnamed sequel to J.J. Abrams' Star Trek yesterday

In the set photo seen above, Quinto is armored head-to-toe in a big, red metal suit that wouldn't be out of place in Tony Stark's wardrobe. But Quinto isn't auditioning for a role in the hugely popular Marvel franchise. Instead, it's him in character for "Star Trek 2," snapped on the set in what's described as a stunt scene involving a volcano.
Along with On Location News' photo of Quinto in costume is the following description:
Zachary Quinto as Spok filming an action scene for the Untitled Star Trek 2 Sequel. After first rehearsing the scene with a Spok Stunt Double Actor Zachary Quinto was then rigged to a wire in front of a large green screen and lifted to a height of 10 stories high then dropped at a high rate of speed as if he was falling. In the scene Spok is wearing a "Volcano Suit" and carrying an unknown piece of equipment with the Starfleet Emblem. A Volcano is somehow involved in this scene. The crew had a real fire burning off camera to catch the fire reflections on Spok's "Volcano Suit".
Spock (not Spok) has been at the forefront of many of the set photos we've seen already, most memorably his one-on-one battle with Benedict Cumberbatch's villain. By all accounts, our favorite Vulcan is going to be front and center for much of the movie's action, it seems. Let's just hope that "Volcano Suit" is hardcore enough to survive whatever he's about to collide with.
